His Excellency Charles R. Paul
Ambassador of the Republic of the Marshall Islands to the United States of America
H.E. Charles R. Paul is the fifth Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Republic of the Marshall Islands to the United States. He held the same position from 2011 to 2015, making him also the third RMI Ambassador to the US. During the intervening time between his first appointment and his re-appointment in September 2023, Ambassador Paul served as an Advisor to the Executive Director at the World Bank Group from June 2015 to June 2017. Afterwards, Ambassador Paul co-founded a real estate financial company in 2017. Prior to his first appointment, Ambassador Paul servered the RMI Government in various capacities including Deputy Chief of Mission for the RMI Embassy to the United States; Economic, Performance and Budgeting Coordinator for the Economic Policy, Planning and Statisics Office under the Office of the President; and others. Ambassador Paul holds a Masters of Science in Finance, and a Graduate Certificate in Financial Management from Johns Hopkins University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Washington College, Maryland. Ambassador Paul was born and raised on Ebeye, Kwajaleien Atoll, and was one of the first students who participated in the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll “Rikatak” Program. He enjoys watching historical documentaries, sports, and cooking.
